I did some searching this morning to find a new home for my old dresses. It turns out that charities only want them if they are 5 years or LESS, anything older they don't want. I guess I see them as having a great potential for people who are handy seamstresses (I assumed these organizations would have one to assist them). So now I'm uncertain what to do. My dresses are a great fabric, and at the time, they were quite expensive. Yes one is definitely dated, but it's silver and black... colours that can easily be adapted, and my other is a full length silver chiffon, and the final is very 'bridesmaidsy' one made of a heavy fabric, and is burgundy. Perhaps ebay or Craigslist will be the way to go. It's just frustrating that I have so many items that are going to "waste". It doesnt' feel right to just throw them away.
On that note, I also have OLD text books that I can only get pennies for... but recycling them doesn't seem right either. mind you, the more I think about it, the better I am with it since they aren't going into the landfill. I'd much prefer the items to be recycled and reused than just trashed.
Am I the only one who struggles with this???

One Thing After Another!
Only one and a half days left of my current position, and it will be March Break! YAHOO!!! The spring is definitely the time of new and fresh starts, and it's starting to feel that way already, thankfully! I had a weigh in and I am now officially at 35 pounds lost. Let's see if I can keep losing and get away from this 'plateau'! Fingers crossed!
I have today off, so I am going to use it to get some of my old job tied up and organized, and to plan ahead for my new job. I have some really great ideas that I want to implement into my classroom, and know that will work well.
Some things on the classroom 'to do' list, are to: 1. set up concrete literacy centers; 2. have clear expectations for guided reading; 3. have methods for immediate and concrete feedback (I sometimes have a hard time getting this on paper, and tracking it).
So... a bit of this, a bit of that... as anticipated! lol
Off to get things organized (funny how these things overlap in ALL areas of life at once...)...

A Shift in Energy!
I am SO happy that March is finally here! The days are longer, and the sun seems to have a bright and clear brilliance, along with energizing properties! Whatever it is, I am very happy that the days are longer and brighter. Lately things have been falling into place it seems. I know life is forever changing, however, at this point in time I haven't fallen into a niche that is perfect for me. I feel healthier and happier, I am almost 35 pounds lighter than I was about a year ago, AND I just interviewed for a job (which finally went well, and I didn't totally freeze up), AND I got the job! YAHOO! So for the remainder of the year I will be teaching grade 4 (and hopefully into next year).
I am SO excited lately and loving how things eventually fall into place with the right mindset. I very much believe that the way we think draws more of it to us. Although, sometimes I have some cases to prove this otherwise! lol Regardless, living more positively in my life makes me FEEL much better and SEEMS to bring more good to me, and sometimes more than I could have ever anticipated!
Only one more week and it will be March Break. I am looking forward to it! I'm hoping this mind-set and lack of stress will also help to keep me on track with losing weight since I have been at a plateau for about a month. I'm hoping to look into some new activities to maybe change things up. Maybe even a new hobby. I think being happy has a huge impact in our overall well being and health (being a teacher I think also requires a balance and taking care of ourselves, or in the end we won't really be serving anyone).
I wish you all happiness and joy! Bring on the spring and wash away the snow! I love new, fresh starts!

Breaking the Ice!
I originally started this blog as a connection to my career and make this career related, however, I have thought more about it, and I am going to avoid dedicating it to one specific part of my life. So I have deleted previous posts and I am going to make this blog a bit about 'this' and a bit about 'that'. "Bits and Bites" if you will. As my life changes, as it inevitably will, so will by blog. I am currently a member of Weight Watchers, I am a teacher trying to 'find my way' into the career, and I am currently looking to purchase my first house with my boyfriend and hopefully start a family. I am hoping that blogging will help to keep me accountable in life and on track with my thoughts. Looking forward to learning and sharing new things!
